A little about Cory
A little more about my story? Well, after having my daughter I realized I didn’t actually know anything about a babies’ sleep needs. I knew I wasn’t getting the sleep I needed and I had no clue when, or if, it was ever going to get any better for either of us. I was terrified to sleep train because of the negative stigma that had surrounded it. Admittedly, I didn’t even know what “sleep training” meant at the time. As an insecure new mom, I just feared the harsh judgment of others. I had resigned myself to night after night of broken sleep at 2 hour intervals (if I was lucky), and quiet resentment toward my husband as I sat in the next room nursing our new baby while he snored away in our bed. I only lasted 5 and a half months with this plan before I realized it was not sustainable for us.
I began to educate myself on sleep as much as possible. Once I had gathered enough information my husband and I made a plan that we felt comfortable with to help our daughter learn this precious skill. After going through the process we had our “miracle morning” and we were finally able to get that consolidated sleep we had been craving for months. This was a complete game changer in our lives! Between getting a full nights rest and having some free-time while baby napped throughout the day, I started feeling like myself for the first time since having our baby. I knew right then that this was a gift I wanted to share with as many new or struggling parents that I possibly could. I wanted everyone to know that there is no shame in teaching your child how to fall asleep independently and that as long as you have something that works for your family- thats ok!
A lot of the information I read fell in line with the Sleep Sense Program by
Dana Obleman. I used her newborn program with our second child right after we brought him home from the hospital. He was consistently sleeping through the night by the time he was 3 months old!
I feel so strongly in this program, and about helping those who need it most. I understand that most parents don't have the time or energy to comb through multiple articles to learn all they need in order to do it on their own. That's why I'm here, to help you, no judgments and no guilt trips.
